Rite Aid Station Visits the Latino Hispanic American Community Center Block Party

When: Saturday, September 15

Where: Harrisburg, PA

For our final stop in Harrisburg, we helped kick off Hispanic Heritage Month at the Latino Hispanic American Community Center Block Party on September 15. The Rite Aid Station offered free health screenings, flu shots, games, and healthy snacks to all attendees.  More than 110 guests took advantage of the free flu shots, and the 50th flu shot was given to long-time Derry Street Rite Aid customer Robert Jenkins by pharmacist, Mario Zuccaroli.

Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson opened the event by acknowledging Rite Aid’s support of the community.  The Rite Aid Station also featured our Hand Washing Station, which was a hit among attendees after they visited all the food booths. One attendee stated, “We are in the middle of nowhere, and Rite Aid is everywhere.”

Thank You Letter from the Latino Hispanic American Community Center

Hi Gayle,

I can’t thank you, the Rite Aid staff, public relations, and entire crew enough for all the work put into the Latino Hispanic American Center’s (LHACC’s) 3rd Annual Block Party!  When we saw the Rite Aid van pull up, the tent unravel, and your energetic crew, my staff and I were totally overwhelmed with excitement!  We are so grateful to Rite Aid for including us in its 50th Anniversary “road rally.”  The list of things you did to help make our event a huge success is much too long to mention, but I must say, the flu shots, the healthy snacks, prize giveaways, and the water station were all a hit!  Nothing could compare though to your wonderful crew and friendly staff who genuinely seemed to enjoy being a part of our block party.  You must be really proud of them!  Likewise, I hope they enjoyed learning about our Latino/Hispanic culture, the diversity of our community, and how we celebrate our heritage.

I want to express to you our sincerest appreciation for the Rite Aid Foundation’s generous and kind support.  With your help, our 3rd Annual Block Party has created momentum that will propel us further toward accomplishing our mission. My sincerest appreciation and gratitude to all!
