Celebrating 50 years of making our communities well with 50 acts of wellness

Rite Aid Lends A Hand To Operation Homefront And Welcomes Veterans Home

When: Sunday, November 11

Where: Norfolk, VA

Rite Aid celebrated Veterans Day by partnering with Operation Homefront, a program dedicated to providing unique and direct services to meet the needs of injured service members. To honor these heroes, we participated in a Veterans Day parade and provided 300 Welcome Home Kits to soldiers filled with shaving cream, razors and other personal care and hygiene items to help re-engage them into their everyday lives. The day started off with a ceremonial flag raising by a local Boy Scout troop, followed by returning and active duty veterans sharing their stories of life as a soldier. After the parade, the service men and women enjoyed hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as water and assorted snacks provided by Rite Aid.

We also wanted to make life easier for units that have recently returned home from combat. Soldiers can sometimes have a difficult time adjusting to life after combat. We wanted to make the transition easier by providing them with 20 Large Wellness Kits, full of common household items such as laundry detergent, Lysol spray and batteries for stocking their homes.
