Rite Aid associates helped bring smiles to the faces of children undergoing medical treatment at Children’s Hospital Orange County on Oct. 16, 2012. Members pitched in to hire Merlin the Magician to help entertain patients during the event. Merlin performed three shows, wowing kids with his ability to turn brightly colored scarves into candy and pull 50 cent pieces out of thin air. Rite Aid associates helped kids decorate pumpkin shaped cookies and make Halloween crafts.
“Being part of an organization that cares about the health and wellness of children is important to me. It was such an honor to be in the presence of such courageous young people and their families,” said Keri Hellinga, Real Estate Manager. “I was equally impressed by the compassion and stewardship of the staff and volunteers at Children’s Hospital Orange County.”
Rite Aid has been a long time donor to Children’s Hospital Orange County. During its 8th Annual Southern California Regional Rite Aid Golf Tournament, Rite Aid raised over $522,000 for three Southern California Children Miracle Network hospitals, including Children’s Hospital Orange County. To date, Rite Aid has raised over $218,000 for this hospital, and as a thank you, Children’s Hospital Orange County is going to name the pharmacy in their new hospital tower, scheduled to open April 2013, after Rite Aid.
